We are leaders in financial inclusion in the North Region, with a strong presence since 1965 when the Miracema/TO branch was opened. Today, we have service points in all municipalities within the biome and, in most of them, we are the only financial institution present. When added, there are 775 branches, business units and banking service points, in addition to 3,628 banking correspondents - Bradesco Expresso.
In order to truly contribute to sustainable development, we strive and establish strategic partnerships to the benefit of the Amazon. The goal is to create banking opportunities and enable the implementation of support programs for the most distant communities.
Bradesco Expresso Unit in the
Tumbira community
Bradesco Expresso is present in conservation units in Amazonas, in a territory of over 1 million hectares. This allows approximately 4,000 people to access financial services.
"When I received the proposal to implement Bradesco Expresso in our inn, I thought it wouldn't
work. But the technicians guided me, I soon adapted, and it greatly strengthened the local economy.
Merchants no longer need to go to the city to shop and tourists use the services and spend more in
the community".
Roberto Brito, tourism entrepreneur from the riverside community of Tumbira, on the banks of the
Rio Negro, in the Amazon.
With Earmarked Productive Microcredit launched in 2014, we bring information, training and access of credit to foster local development and entrepreneurship.
“I moved to Tumbira community and started making hand-made bread, but I couldn't standardize the
sizes. With Bradesco's microcredit, I bought the equipment, solved the problem and my work is now
much faster. The next step is to set up my bakery and install all the necessary machinery".
Joaquim da Costa Filho, baker from the riverside community of Tumbira, on the banks of the Rio
Negro, in the Amazon.
About 400 communities in the Amazon participate in financial education actions and encouraging
entrepreneurship. These are carried out in partnership with community leaders and the Bradesco
Corporate University (Unibrad). We started with a lecture in 2014 and in 2016 we included personal
finance workshops for community leaders.
In 2019, we developed a financial education booklet through a co-creation process with community
leaders. The purpose was to provide guidance and encourage the multiplication of knowledge. In 2020,
within the context of the pandemic, new challenges arose for riverside communities in the Amazon. So,
we adapted the annual meeting to promote the action named Financial Well-Being in Times of Crisis –
FAS Leaders Project.
Our priority was the strengthening of the sustainable business agenda, including the social and economic development of the Amazon region. The commercial approach to agribusiness, for example, includes the offer of credit lines aimed at sustainable irrigation and companies with environmental certification. We have three agro platforms in the region, implemented in 2018. Through these platforms, 17 professionals – including six agronomists – provide advise to our agribusiness clients.

Learn“Being part of a financial institution like Bradesco, which has sustainability in agribusiness as
its principle, makes me very excited. From the moment of my selection, the institution was
proposed have a look at a local professional, showed respect for the location where the bank
operates”.
Angela Eugênio de Moraes, Agricultural Engineer
In the relationship with society, Bradesco Foundation, our major social action, operates in
socio-economically deprived regions by offering basic education and vocational courses. The first
school outside São Paulo was inaugurated in Conceição do Araguaia, Pará, in 1971.
In 1973, we built the first farm school, in Canuanã, Tocantins, which operates as a boarding school.
After high school, students can receive professional education through the Agricultural Technical
Course. Modernized in 2017, it was recognized with the Building Of The Year 2018 award by ArchDaily
and the RIBA International Award 2018, among other recognitions.
Our work is carried out by supporting our clients by providing financial products and services within the biome.
With our banking correspondent model, we are present in all municipalities of the Legal Amazon.
More than R$ 99 million granted in microcredit in 2023.
R$ 239 million granted by the National Program for Strengthening Family Farming (PRONAF) in 2023.
R$ 102 million granted in photovoltaic products by 2023.
We have the support of over 5,400 employees in the region, promoting economic development.
More than 9 thousand students benefited through 11 physical schools of the Fundação Bradesco, in addition to the virtual school and vocational courses.

Amazon is the largest tropical biome in the world.
It covers more than
6 million km² spread in nine countries in South America - Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador,
Guyana, French Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
Biome is a region with fauna and flora typical of the location, with similar vegetation and
climate.
A union of ecosystems.
The value of the place is immeasurable. Its vegetation captures CO2 from the air and releases oxygen, a process called carbon sequestration and storage. Just imagine the carbon stored in the soil, which is between 86 and 120 billion tons¹. This represents up to R$ 20 trillion², according to the price of carbon credits in the current European market.
The richness in biodiversity represents an opportunity for the reindustrialization of Brazil, based on Bioeconomy. This would place us as the largest environmental powerhouse on the planet. The value of this market, still with little Brazilian share, is around R$ 13 trillion³.
Despite little knowledge about the real power of our biodiversity, we already have enough data to believe that it is a more profitable business compared to traditional commodities. There are about 30 million animal species and 5 million plant species in the Amazon Biome. Not to mention its importance for rainfall regulation.
The Amazon hydrographic basin is the largest in the world, with about 1/5 of all fresh water on the planet. The evaporation of this water develop “flying rivers”, clouds that carry rain to the Mid-west, Southeast and South of the country. This guarantees the supply for plantations, cities and industries.

I was born and grew up in the Transamazon region in a region called Mid-Xingu, whose history began with
colonization for agricultural exploitation. Many policies applied here aimed at predatory agriculture and
today we see and feel the negative results of this type of exploitation. Hence the need for more
environmentally-driven action by the social players involved.
As a child, I used to follow my father through the cocoa plantations widely cultivated on this soil, and,
like him, I chose a career in the area of agricultural sciences. I have a degree in Agricultural Engineering
from the Federal University of Pará with an emphasis on family farming, due to its relevance and high share
in the economic development of the country, especially the Amazon region.
Considering my family, academic and professional background, my life has always been involved with the
sustainability theme. Living and experiencing the way of life of a people that endures and lives in the
Amazon biome made me have a discerning look when it comes to this currently so discussed topic,
SUSTAINABILITY.
I believe that thinking in a truly sustainable way goes far beyond merely environmental projects;
sustainable thinking, especially in agriculture, means thinking about the people who live off the land,
recognizing them, respecting them, and providing them with the conditions to remain in the field in a
dignified way.
Having this opportunity to be part of a financial institution like Bradesco that has sustainability in
agribusiness as its principle makes me very excited, because, from the moment of my selection, where the
institution was proposed to have a look at a local professional, it showed respect for the location where
the bank operates. This vision of people, culture, the environment, really makes me feel that I can actively
contribute to the environmental and economic quality of life of the Amazon people. The little that I can do
to repay these hard-working people will be of immense satisfaction to me.
